Update on the New QCB2 Garden Office Specification

okay I'm here with Alex Alex Shaw this is she actually a daughter's studio Carmen yeah who obviously works for the business and she organizes the visits and most customers at some point usually come in contact crouch he arranges visits and and she sells studios people come to the studio if their local time yeah and it is she was one of the first to have this color combination yeah I seem to remember because she liked it the way that the oak frames the anthracite yeah windows in the oak hill is an application and the other unusual thing about it is the size isn't it yeah because we can if we do a combination of our windows we can do other sizes so we can do 15-foot because obviously people are trying to maximize the space and the other big thing that we were able to do now is build right up to a fence because we can stop the walls in from inside and fix them inside the walls are all solid so we've actually been doing studios with only an inch to spare on either side was very happy and that's so if you've only got 15 foot space so why did she 115 foot is it because it was just too big she didn't want to lose this bit garden at the end like that yes all those plants you didn't want to lose that and to work with the air column she liked to keep that so doing the 15 foot was quite easily but the other thing about it is she's got windows on the side because she wanted to look at that garden to get like in Harry so she didn't need warp space a lot of people want the wall space for the shelves the books and some people have views down the garden and they want to share that bring that garden in so on the qcb then it's well she's got window window window hasn't tilt window and to things when we say tyll tyll means that the window tilts in fixed means that they don't blow anyway they're fixed you need things it stops racking so windows but you can have a door here as well so you could have two doors you've got the door from so you could have the door on the front and she has yeah and this middle one but it's always the middle one isn't it yeah yeah and obviously have a little look inside Carmen's studio then it is very light then obviously she has that view yeah out to the side like a common and it does feel nice doesn't it brings the garden into the room yeah yeah you almost feel like you're not in a room well some people say oh they said you know the garden is usually the biggest room in the house it's not used so I put in the windows and you let the plants come up to the window it does feel more like you in the garden yeah yeah great and as far as the side windows could somebody also have windows over here say yeah you wouldn't you wouldn't want all windows because you wouldn't get any electrics in yeah yeah you need and I challenged got an AC unit you know three all these places and more heaters couches we've never done one for four windows but those done plenty where it's three windows right yeah correct okay that's great thank you

still here with Alex and you've just pointed out there Alex about the qcb - one of the differences or one of the many differences is that it has a hidden down pipe as opposed to one at the rear yeah the vampires in this corner what we were finding was people phoning out and saying I want a studio how deep is it they were and then we were saying but you need to allow for 150 mil at the back for you down pipe to run down and then trying to get in there to get the damn pipe fixed in it was quite difficult so that was annoying so it was one of the reasons that we went for the flat roof and put the down pipe inside the studio it's not in the studio it's in the corner right it is hidden you don't see it but it looks a lot better because we can they're not the prettiest things in the world are they you know down pipes on houses you know functional so getting rid of it helped us with many other things that's why we went to QC - one of the things that came into play was at the downpipe is now hitting in this corner but that means we can put it in any of the four corners that we choose to write so the most and most of the Cutie peas would have to dam pipes yeah depending on the songs you know where it would be yeah so it's a more even distribution of the rainwater and the granny annexes may have three round pipes and the bigger the studios you know we can now be really big studios with juicy things joining them together and the roofs are slightly independent of each other so there's never another flooding of water onto one section our actions form each section has its own down by within the building is then dispersed under the building yet saying about the water where does the walk over what goes where what would have went studio wasn't there okay and you were saying as well the fact that it's hidden it won't suffer any UV damage no it's not a problem because the whole thing is covered in gravel so you know we surface calls on gutters was quite common it would block up you know the gaskets would wear out birds would get in there floor about and you know pick up them so now we don't get that problem at all so cars done come back to us at all yep brilliant okay that's great thank you

the other thing you were pointing out alex is how close the QC b2 can get to any boundary yeah we can go right up to the boundary now so the fence is almost touching the studio remember it's maintenance-free so you don't need to get into me in the student table studio you know how you maintain the fence maybe you can maintain on that way but we can get really tight up against damages garden fences pages because we can build it and drop the fence lips paneling from issues you build it from the inside can on these you have the studio you know there is a little bit trickier to rock up cables engine slows it down a tad but not much yeah but it was just that I used to hate it when people did want the 16 foot but I had to go for a 12 foot as the gardens only this wide and you needed that space around it to build who actually build it which I also us a shame so we designed it so that it can go right up tight yes the locks in so another advantage of the qtb - yeah - yeah great

and also Alex she was saying internally the qcb to ceiling is flat rather less sloped what we do there is a slope on the ceiling but the slope is made up on the outside of it become what we call fairing pieces and Packers so we do get a slope but on the inside of the studio underneath it's totally flat it's totally level and that gives you a bit more Headroom desire because we used to slope it inside the studio so the back was shorter than the front yeah then if you're putting cabinets in it didn't help you know it looked odd and if you're putting internal walls in we had to shape them all right so it helps put an internal walls internal walls now easy to put in school or cubicles okay yeah cubicle keep it clean we know the exact size of them right okay fantastic

and you would just mention in the flyover roofs which you know Carmen's hasn't got that no but we have we have now designed a flyover that fits on the Qt B's and what do you mean by flyovers because some people say well what does that mean it's just by its a canopy that comes out and then it would have a support post so you can come out nine hundred mil twelve hundred mil eighteen hundred millimetres 400 mil right and the advantage of that is what shade to from sunshine or the rain or people like it you know the sentiment that all with the bag and a train and a cup of tea in one hand thick unlock the door and I'll get where they look good as well that's one of the things if you look on the website now we've got pictures of QC ends with the flyover is the new live attractively look classy don't ya the deccan and the flyover this looks good Sami where I've got one at the workshop that's just getting built so you know the video a video of that and you also said it can go on any side yes so you could come out here and we could have it on the side or the front or even the rear you said yes all right they'd always have a post it needs opposed to support the roof right any decks really and how how does it work with like rainfall if you if you if you had quite a large flyover how did you cope with this an independent roof so it's got its own down pipes again and the water coming down one down pipe so we different down pipes so these posts that we're talking about have a down pipe comes through the post say the studio okay thanks a lot really right and can you see those got on the guttering and everything on the top is gravel on the top is a pea gravel layer was laid on top of the rubber that's there to stop a firework landed on your roof for example and we changed the rubber down the gravel so it's a nice-looking finish you know he was looking out like a pack mule really right okay that's great thank you you

also a massive thing about the qcb design alex is it incorporates uh it's steel isn't it yeah it's all steel leather steel it's what you would get on the side of the factory we've got a company that folds it to the shape that we want it folded so you can get gray green merlin in the leatherette and it comes with a 25-year guarantee that it won't fade or whether you don't have to paint or stay in it and then of course we've got the old which is a different type of design because this is a photograph print on steel okay and then like most guarantees they usually outlive the guarantees you know like windows always came with a 10-year guarantee people have had windows and doesn't mean they're going to fall apart after 10. yeah suddenly explode and help so yeah this comes with a 10-year guarantee and whether it comes with a 25-year guarantee yeah okay that's great thank you
