Jolanta's L-shape annexe, installed in days

Okay. I'm here with Alex in this normal street in in uh Yeah. And uh we're looking at an L-shaped annex that uh yeah, we've got So, it's 24T by 12t sections.

So, you got three sections that are 12t by 8t. So, you have three rooms, a kitchen, a lounge, and a bedroom. It's the L shape, isn't it?

It's the L shape studio with the decking on it. And I was saying to you, Alex, so where is it? It's like, yeah, can vaguely see it over in the corner there.

So I I was really surprised at how uh nicely it blends into the toent's garden. Yeah, and that's what she said. " Cuz it does blend in.

It's very camouflaged and hidden. It doesn't dominate the garden or dominate the street. Should we go and find it?

Yeah. behind it. So, this is a three bed.

Yeah, three bed end of terrace house. Three bed end of terrace. So, the small houses, but and here we have the uh the annex.

Yeah. So, it sits Looks lovely, doesn't it? Does look nice, doesn't it?

Just it doesn't dominate, you know, the height of it and everything that we that we work at. And she's gone for the decking. Yes.

And she just mentioned about possibly adding a fly over roof. So could do you want to explain that what you would do there, Alex? Yeah.

Galant's just said to us that she would when she comes back, she's got a computer in her hand from work. She sometimes get in it late at night at 10:00. Uh she would like a a fly over so she can for when it's raining.

Yeah. So she can put a bag down and take a time to open the door and so and it's not a problem to add that retrospectively. Yeah.

When it's when it's all done. So you can see it as it is now and it it won't affect it at all. I'll put a small fly over out.

I think one of the things is if you look at the studio from there that it doesn't dominate the garden. It feels quite small. Yep.

But then I'm going to walk in first of all. Take the shoes off. Take the shoes off.

Which uh was going to be for your mom, wasn't it? Originally, it was. Yes.

But me and my son loved it so much we decided to move in. Excellent. Right.

So, if we have a quick tour, what are we looking at? So, we've got this living area. So, we got the couch where Jant was working and we can have a telly up there.

So, this is our living area. Jant's going to have a table and obviously you got a view out to the garden through the windows. We've just come in and we've got our kitchen.

We need in a kitchen. Then we have our bathroom. And the bathroom.

Anybody seen our videos would have seen this bathroom plenty of time. So you've got the boiler, the boiler cupboard, the L shower sinks, showers in there. And then we've got a bedroom.

The bedroom has gone. And that's a bunk bed, isn't it? For a bunk bed and a wardrobe.

So lots of space. The wardrobe's around here. Yeah.

No, it looks fantastic. And obviously still views out into the garden. Yeah.

And then very close to mom, so take care of mom. Yeah. So this bedroom's 12 by 8.

12t by 8. This this room's 12 by 8. The kitchen area is 12 by 8.

And we should put a dining room table into there as well. And the lounge area is 12 by 8. Right.

So, Elante, you were just saying that originally you were going to have your mom in here. That's right. Yes.

So, what why did you change your mind? So, we um I took my son to the workshop to your workshop. But as soon as he saw it, he says, "No, this is it.

I want to live in this [laughter] and uh yeah, I love it. I loved it as well. " It is spacious.

Is this What size is this one, Alex? This is the 24 by 12. No, it's 24 by 8 with the 12 by 8 added.

So this section is 12 by 8. This section is 12. There's three sections of 12 by 8.

Basically, it's 12 by the kitchen area is 12 by 8 and the lounge area is 12 by 8. Right. Okay.

But when you go into the lounge area, it does feel spacious, doesn't it? It does. Even though we just drove past it.

We just drove past and I said to him, I'm sure it's round. Oh, there it is. Quite hardly noticeable.

Yeah, it does sit lovely in the garden. It is. And we've had so many positive comments from the neighbors as well.

They've all come to have a look. Yeah. So they haven't objected.

No, not at all. Nice, doesn't it? It's nice on the eye.

Exactly. Yeah. And your son So what did your son [laughter] Why did he Why was he so keen to move from the house?

Cuz you got a three bed house. Is it a three bed? It's a three bedroomedroom house.

Yes. Yeah. He just loved it.

Yeah. Yeah. And it's our own space as well, but we're Yeah, we're in mom's garden, so I can still look in take care of her.

Yeah, we have our meals together in the house. Although I do do some cooking here cuz I've got a little uh oven that I bought in a little. Um yeah, to just warm up.

I'll tell you what you can get which is really good that Karen and I went away to understand and stayed in. [snorts] Well, there's two things. You can get a hob from IKEA induction hob.

That's what I've got. But you can get a frying pan. I'll send you the details.

It's a frying pan that you plug in. It's quite big. But you can and it's not just a frying pan.

Karen did a curry just she chopped up onions, potatoes in left it simmering and she threw in spices and next minute this lovely meal and it washed up dead easy. Yeah. But the thing is then she just put it in the cupboard out the way.

Mhm. It was really good. So I'll send you the details.

Yeah, that would be great. So you're happy? I'm very happy.

yell and you just say I'm just sayin had you look to other options before option number one was an extension on the house and it cost so much I thought no and there was a few other companies and I googled granny annex yeah they were much more expensive plus with some of them there was a 12 months wait and I couldn't wait 12 months okay I needed something within months yeah yeah and this suited my budget it was happened very quickly and it was really good to come and actually see one physically and see one physically yeah we found that yeah well a lot of people it was quite a lot still quite a lot of money to spend so it's worth the journey to pop along and have a look yeah and how how quickly was this one installed with you for days okay mine she's they they finished Friday night and then the electrician came on the Monday just to do his business yeah okay one day I was gonna say yeah we're good job with sort of they have they could only come for about an hour oh yeah it's gonna say oh no it took four days gentlemen we can't do them it's a sunshine and winds in the right direction I've done them in two and a half days you know you're looking to get it down to two days on you oh yeah the optimist okay thank you

So, you were just saying your answer about your neighbors that they none of them complained and they're all over the moon for it. They loved it. Yes.

And they've all been ramped to have a look. They were really surprised, I think, you know, how actually spacious it is. Yeah.

But it looks it does look dimminitive in the garden, doesn't it? It doesn't look huge. You don't you're not it's not I think that's one of the things with the height and the size of things that it doesn't when you walk in you're not oh I think sometimes when we're building it and the silver insulation and that's on show people yeah the neighbors especially can get a bit worried can't they oh that's looking huge but then when all the colors go on the greens and the grays tone it right down but the colors are great cuz they blend in with nature and What colors have you got is the oak windows and the green walls.

And the green walls, right? Okay. Yeah.

Yeah. But even the gray blends down, you know, into when you put it in gardens, it's always surprisingly, you know, you can't see it. Yeah.

Also like some a lot of customers will say it looks like it's always been there. I don't know if that's how how you feel. Lots of customer look out the window.

It looks like it's always been there. I can't imagine it not being there now.

can I ask you so you've got the deck in because not everybody has the decking have you used it much at all well in some are we going to yeah because I've got some nicer little patio furniture that I'm gonna put out there yeah I mean I think we it's like most things that we've used different products we've now been using that for quite a number of years and I've got that deck in in my garden on auntie Irene's annex we had all we've got in our garden it's as good as it was when I first went down and that was five years ago it's really good but we were using this composite stuff and it got a little bit Massey you know and we've got that the workshop our office end and you compare that to that it's just it's a good quality yeah and that's happened in five years but look what Sam - the icon in five years no surprise the patient's come up [Music]
